ABOUT THE ROLE

We currently have an opportunity for a Field Service Engineer who will be based in the Leeds, Manchester, or Liverpool areas. However, as this is a field-based role some flexibility in actual location can be accommodated.

37.5 hours per week, 5 out of 7 days with weekend work and public holidays required (broadly expect 1 in 4 weeks weekend work). This role is home-based but you will be required to travel throughout the UK and Europe and will frequently be required to work away from home.

You will be visiting customer supported sites throughout the UK to diagnose and replace equipment (namely networking / Wi-Fi and digital signage) as well as decommission and deploy equipment to accommodate customer refurbishments. The customers will predominantly be retail and transport with key ones being Aldi, The CoOperative and National Express.

 

Main duties will involve dealing with:

  • To attend customer sites to repair/exchange technical equipment.
  • To attend customer sites to deploy and install technical equipment.
  • To return parts/equipment to the specified pick-up/drop-off location (nearest DPD /DHL Depot to the candidate’s home location)
  • To provide accurate weekly time and expense sheets using the MAXOPTRA field service application.
  • To complete detailed and accurate reports for each job attended.
  • To liaise with the IT Service Desk and Project Teams to confirm work orders and overcome problem sites.

Key skills, experience, qualifications:

  • Previous IT Field or IT Service Desk experience to include networking equipment (Aerohive/Cisco/HP)
  • A data engineer (structure cabling) would be suitable for this role if looking to branch into more technical deployments.
  • A shop-fit tradesperson would be suitable for this role if looking to branch into more technical deployments
  • Previous experience with structured cabling would be advantageous but not essential
  • Previous “shop fit” experience would be advantageous but not essential
  • CSCS or equivalent card would be advantageous but not essential
  • IPAF or similar would be advantageous but not essential
