We currently have an opportunity for a full-time IT Networks Manager to join our team. Based at our head office in Cirencester, commutable from Swindon, Cheltenham and Gloucester as well as visiting customer sites.

In this role, you will provide line management to a team of IT engineers providing onsite support and project assistance to support rapidly growing retail and enterprise environments, frequent visits to customer sites across the UK will be required.

You will also work with multiple technology vendors and you must be keen to do so, as well as having similar experience.

As the team come across problems, where appropriate, the technology is being standardised and legacy technology replaced. We are seeking someone from a focused network background who can be flexible and both an inspirational leader and a great team player.


Main duties will involve dealing with:

  • Work with and assist technology teams (including service desk, pre-sales and project engineering) in the adoption of new client-specific processes and procedures.
  • Ensuring contractual obligations, SLA’s, KPIs, processes and business plans are understood and adhered to within the team.
  • Developing and managing productive relationships internally and externally.
  • Managing the resource utilisation for our technical teams to ensure adequate staff levels, to arrange cover for absences and peaks in workload and managing the recruitment of new team members.
  • Negotiate, implement, and monitor service level agreements, taking proactive steps to identify and improve service delivery and sustainability targets.
  • Produce regular service reports for client IT Service reviews and internal service management reports for the board.
  • Driving best practice, process improvement across the group and maintain an effective work environment.
  • Act as ‘duty incident manager’ for high priority/critical technical issues, overseeing client engagement and technical response.
  • Categorise and prioritise case workload during peak demand in response to customer escalations and client feedback.
  • Management of vendors and 3rd party suppliers to ensure that services are delivered in accordance with expectations and service level agreements.

Key skills, experience, qualifications:

This is a technically focussed role so demonstrable technical experience is essential for:

  • Cisco CCNA/CCNP or similar experience
  • Remote Access (Cisco ASA / AnyConnect) and site to site VPN configuration experience
  • Zone-based firewall knowledge including firewall administration and troubleshooting (SonicWall)
  • Range of L2 switching platforms (such as Cisco Nexus, HP Procurve)
  • Working knowledge of layer 2 protocols (OSPF, VRF)
  • Network monitoring platforms such as PRTG and/or Auvik
  • Layer 2 troubleshooting skills


Desirable experience (but not essential):

  • Industrial switching (Moxa)
  • Cisco DNA Center
  • Using Netsuite ERP


Personal attributes include:

Someone who has experience of working for an IT Service Provider or IT reseller, managing multiple end-user accounts and who can demonstrate a proven track record of excellent customer care and relationship building to achieve results and SLA’s at management level.

You will be able to work well in a high-pressure environment, whilst maintaining focus, sense of urgency and decisiveness and possess good documentation skills, specifically with regards to internal and customer processes.
