Transforming Aldi's retail experience
Since 1990 Aldi has become one of the most well-known supermarket chains in the UK with over 830 stores employing over 31,000 people. Alongside Aldi’s 1,800 items, they are well known for their selection of ‘Specialbuys’ which are changed twice a week, including a variety of products, from electricals to kids’ fashion.
Trust Systems and Aldi began working together when Aldi were looking to deploy an update to their POS system and needed new servers as part of the project. From this deployment the partnership grew and Trust is now a partner for their digital journey.
Back in 2015 Trust won the contract to deliver Enterprise and Customer WiFi. The Enterprise WiFi solution included all Access Points, Cabling and WAN connectivity with a full Managed Service across the store real estate. Customer WiFi is delivered through a private cloud with full security and is fully GDPR compliant.
Aldi’s National IT Director, explains: “We looked at various WiFi solutions, including those from large IT solution providers. We chose Trust as their offering ranged from design to deployment to management and servicing. Trust had demonstrable ability to deliver to a high level from previous work within our business. This was coupled with the fact the WiFi solution they offered provided high-speed and resilient network access for colleagues, customers, and all business devices.”
Aldi have since embraced other technology solutions to harvest the power of their network infrastructure due to the flexibility of the Trust solution. Mike Dowson, Commercial Director at Trust Systems, explains: “We have worked with Aldi to bring all components together to offer a managed service combining new store deployments and enterprise WiFi”.
